4 days into the Waldo Canyon Fire we are getting numerous requests from volunteers to help restore the area. Wonderful!! Thank you so much for your willingness to jump in and give back to this amazing and beautiful area that is our home. For those that are unfamiliar with the Rocky Mountain Field Institute, we are a local conservation organization that does large-scale restoration work at heavily impacted natural areas throughout the region including Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and Hayman Burn in the South Platte. We specialize in rallying community volunteers to complete much needed on-the-ground restoration work.
We are 100% committed to helping restore the Waldo Canyon area. We are available as a resource for the Forest Service and are able to provide expertise and volunteer power when the time comes. Our past experience with restoration projects in the region puts us in a good position to provide assistance to the Forest Service in restoring the area. Given that the fire is still burning and the on-the-ground impact is unknown we are currently in a "wait and see" mode in regards to restoration efforts.
We encourage everyone interested to keep in touch with us by joining our email list, liking us on Facebook, and following us on Twitter. THANK YOU!
