NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY IN GARDEN OF THE GODS!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
TRAILWORK 8 AM - 12 PM. LUNCH AND RECREATION TO FOLLOW!
Celebrate public lands with a day of stewardship and recreation in one of our region's most iconic public parks.
Kick off the morning by giving back to this park we all love with a stewardship project focusing on trail maintenance and restoration. After work, enjoy lunch courtesy of WebriQ Goes Mad and then go enjoy the park on a group excursion of your choice with one of our recreation partners!
Recreation opportunities include:
- Interpretive hike led by the Friends of Garden of the Gods - 12:30-1:30pm
- Rock climbing with the Pikes Peak Climbers Alliance - 12:30-?pm
- Horseback riding with Academy Riding Stables - 1:30-2:30pm
- Group bike ride - 12:30-Buff Lodge! (Ride your bike to the event then cruise the Garden after lunch while heading to the Buffalo Lodge!)
After-party at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort starts at 2:00pm! Keep the celebration going with volunteer drink specials and prize drawings!
Minimum age for the stewardship project is 16, or 13 with an accompanying parent or guardian volunteer. Bring your own climbing equipment and permit or bike if participating in either of those activities. Helmets are required! For new climbers, a limited amount of loaner equipment will be available. Climbing permits are free of charge and can be obtained through the City of Colorado Springs Parks Department at this link.
