Technical Training Courses

RMFI is a leader in offering technical training opportunities for volunteers, crew leaders, and partner organizations relating to advanced trail and restoration techniques.
Crew Leaders and volunteers participate in a Buck & Rail Fencing Construction Training with RMFI.

As an organization known throughout the region for our technical expertise, RMFI is well situated to provide advanced technical training courses covering a wide array of trail and restoration techniques. Our trainings are scheduled periodically throughout each field season and each tackle one specific technique relevant to the field work done by RMFI and related partner organizations. A standard training day involves a morning lecture and demonstration followed by ample time of hands-on practice. Often times, trainings serve the dual purpose of completing actual timely and needed work, often occurring to assist a partner Friends Group or other organization with a skill needed to address a project within their geographical focus area. Although trainings are geared towards certified Pikes Peak Regional Crew Leaders and active members of partner Friends Groups and organizations, the trainings do provide opportunity for experienced volunteers with a mastery of basic techniques to participate as well.

Some examples of recently held trainings include:

  • Timber Step Construction
  • Rock Step Construction
  • Trail Finishing Techniques
  • Buck & Rail Fence Construction
  • Fire Restoration Skills
  • Tool Maintenance and Repair

Keep an eye out for upcoming technical training courses on our calendar. These are typically the workdays listed with the color yellow to indicate limited enrollment for Crew Leaders, partner organizations, and volunteers with several workdays under their belt.
