Celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day at Guffey Gorge, aka Paradise Cove!
Guffey Gorge is a popular day-use recreation spot offering visitors opportunities to swim, hike, scramble, or just relax and enjoy the views. It is located approximately 12 miles away from the town of Guffey, Colorado.
This spring, RMFI is partnering with the Bureau of Land Management, Royal Gorge Field Office, to improve the access trail to this little spot of paradise by installing buck and rail fencing, rock steps, and check dams. This will be technical work and is recommended for experienced and/or Crew Leader volunteers, but those up for the technical challenges and a strenuous day's work are most welcome!
Hike to the worksite is minimal as we are working very close to the trailhead. Volunteers who wish to stay and play at the cove after trail work wraps up at 3:00 should bring their recreational attire to keep in their vehicles at the trailhead!
