RMFI Crews are headed up to Jones Park for 16 days to work on trail maintenance objectives. Fixing erosion damage and improving drainage, and trail tread. The crew will need to pack in a bit of backcountry gear and tools for this project, and we could use some extra hands!

From High Drive, our location for drop off will be 3.5 miles one way up Trail 667 (Upper Captain Jacks) with approximately 1400 feet of elevation gain with packs of around 40-60 pounds.

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and communities.

Land Acknowledgment

This is a community stewardship day, which we acknowledge takes place on the traditional unceded territory of the Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), Cheyenne, and Jicarilla Apache Nations*. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced occupation of their territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse indigenous people connected to this land on which our stewardship days take place.

Meeting location:

Please park and meet RMFI at the Upper Gold Camp Parking Lot/Powell Lot in North Cheyenne Cañon. RMFI will shuttle you to the top of High Drive.

Upper Gold Camp Parking Lot/Powell Lot

Time:

8:00 am - approx 2:00 pm

Online registration will close Friday, September 13th at noon.

Activity: This El Paso County Parks property is popular with hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and motorcyclists. For this project we will need volunteer assistance in moving our backcountry gear and tool up to our worksite in Jones Park. From High Drive, our location for drop off will be 3.5 miles one way up Trail 667 (Upper Captain Jacks) with approximately 1400 feet of elevation gain with packs of around 40-60 pounds. The hike down will be without weight.
